Two Men PASS Out — Drugs in Plain Sight

Two suspected drug dealers were arrested in Pierce County, Washington, after deputies discovered them unconscious in a vehicle parked on the roadside with narcotics visible inside, demonstrating how criminal negligence can lead to swift law enforcement action.

Deputies Make Discovery During Routine Call

Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies encountered the unusual scene around 11 p.m. on September 15 while responding to an unrelated call in the 7600 block of East D Street. A vehicle sat parked on the side of the road with two men passed out inside. The driver, 37, and passenger, 33, remained unconscious as deputies approached. Body camera footage released by the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office shows deputies tapping on the vehicle’s windows repeatedly to rouse the suspects.

When the men finally regained consciousness, they responded slowly to deputy commands. The driver took an extended period to comply with orders to exit the vehicle. After waiting, one deputy broke the vehicle’s window, opened the door, and removed the driver, placing him in handcuffs. The deputy later explained that the visible items inside the vehicle and the suspects’ condition necessitated immediate action.

Evidence and Charges Filed

Deputies determined the items found in plain sight inside the vehicle were consistent with narcotics distribution operations. Both men were transported to Pierce County Jail and booked on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. The Sheriff’s Office did not release the suspects’ identities, preventing confirmation of booking times or bond amounts. Authorities also declined to specify what type of controlled substance was discovered or the quantity of white powder found during the initial observation.

Investigation Continues

Following the arrests, deputies had the vehicle towed from the scene. Law enforcement obtained a search warrant to conduct a thorough examination as part of the ongoing investigation. The case remains active, with both suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. What started as a welfare check on two individuals who appeared incapacitated ended with felony drug charges and an active criminal investigation. The incident highlights how routine patrol work can uncover serious criminal activity when suspects fail to maintain basic operational security.
