Federal immigration authorities have arrested over 10,000 migrant gang members in the first eighteen months of President Trump’s second term, marking a significant milestone in the administration’s deportation enforcement efforts announced by the Department of Homeland Security this week.
Dangerous Criminals Removed from American Streets
The arrests include individuals charged with murder, assault with deadly weapons, drug trafficking, racketeering, robbery, and extortion. The 10,000th arrest involved Javier Hernandez Rosas, an illegal migrant from Mexico and alleged member of the terrorist organization MS-13. His criminal record included cocaine possession and prior arrests for abduction and weapons violations, according to federal authorities.
Among the most dangerous individuals detained were seven additional MS-13 gang members. Josue Saul Garcia-Lopez, a Salvadoran migrant arrested in Harrisonburg, Virginia, was wanted internationally for extortion and robbery schemes. Two other MS-13 members from El Salvador, Danny Granados-Garcia and David Antonio Aviles Perez, were both wanted for murder in their home country. Granados-Garcia faced accusations of killing a pastor.
Venezuelan Gang Members Also Targeted
Immigration officials also removed numerous members of Tren de Aragua, a violent Venezuelan prison gang. Venezuelan national Yorvis Michel Carrascal Campo faced charges of murder, racketeering, and drug trafficking before his January arrest in Colorado. Another known member, Jesus Ruben Lopez Garcia, was apprehended in Oregon in February with a criminal history including theft, assault, illegal firearm possession, and obstructing law enforcement.
Expanded Enforcement Capabilities
The acceleration in arrests follows passage of the Secure America Act, a $70 billion immigration enforcement funding package approved by Congress earlier this month. Officials credit this legislation with turbocharging the agency’s ability to identify and remove gang members from American communities. As of last week, the government had deported nearly 900,000 illegal immigrants total since the administration launched its expanded deportations agenda eighteen months ago.
The enforcement actions represent the administration’s commitment to removing criminal elements from the country while prioritizing public safety. Federal authorities continue coordinating operations nationwide to identify and arrest individuals with gang affiliations and criminal backgrounds who entered the country illegally.
