A 30-year-old man fights for his life at Harborview Medical Center after being stabbed in Seattle’s Pioneer Square neighborhood, then boarding a light rail train while bleeding profusely from his torso.

Victim Travels Through Transit System After Attack

King County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Symphony Station at Third Avenue around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday after reports of a man bleeding from his torso. Seattle Police investigators determined the victim was stabbed in Occidental Square within Pioneer Square, then walked to the nearby light rail stop. Security camera footage captured him sitting on a bench at Pioneer Square station, blood visibly soaking through his shirt, before he boarded a northbound train heading toward Symphony station.

Firefighters treated the victim at Symphony station before paramedics transported him to Harborview Medical Center. He remained in critical condition as of Sunday night. The incident forced Sound Transit to halt service on the 1 and 2 lines for approximately 20 minutes while emergency responders treated the victim and cleared the scene.

Suspect Remains Unidentified

Seattle Police, who assumed jurisdiction over the investigation, have not released any description of the suspect. Authorities stated the attacker remains at large but did not indicate there is an ongoing threat to the public.
